DUOver ("we," "us," or "our") operates the DUOver platform (the "Service"), accessible at duover.app. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our Service. Profile photo: An optional photo you upload to your profile.
Entry content: Stories, encounter descriptions, dates, locations (including geographic coordinates), and any other content you submit in entries.
Messages: Content of messages exchanged between matched users through the in-app messaging system.
Usage data: Pages visited, features used, login timestamps, and other interaction data.
Device information: Browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers.
Reports: Content of reports you submit about other users or entries.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
To provide the Service: Creating and managing your account, processing entries, generating potential matches, and facilitating messaging.
Match improvement: Anonymized entry and match data is used to train and improve our matching algorithm. By using the Service, you consent to this use. We do not use your name, email, photo, or other directly identifying information for model training.
App improvement and analytics: Aggregate, anonymized usage data helps us understand how the app is used and improve features.
Safety and enforcement: Reviewing reports, enforcing our Terms of Service, and preventing abuse.
Communications: Sending notifications about matches, messages, and account activity (based on your preferences).
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
With matched users: Upon mutual match confirmation, your first name and profile photo are shared with the other party. No other personal information (email, age, city, last name) is shared.
Public match stories: If you choose to publish a match story, it is visible to all users of the Service. You are responsible for ensuring it does not include personally identifying information.
Service providers: We may share data with third-party vendors (e.g., hosting, analytics, email delivery) who process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements.
Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of DUOver or others.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or safety purposes. Aggregated, anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

Access, update, or correct your personal information through your profile settings.
Delete your account and associated data through the Settings page.
Request a copy of your data using the "Download my data" option in Settings.
Opt out of non-essential notifications through your notification preferences.

7. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended solely for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service may use Google Maps API for location features. Your use of those features is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
10. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
